The famous Panasonic GH5 has easily become one of the best mirrorless cameras that are available in the market and the best thing is that with this camera, you are not really expected to spend a lot of money, either. So, if you do want to get some really good performance, this is the camera that you should be going for.
It is being used by a lot of vloggers and filmmakers, too. However, despite the camera having in-body image stabilization, a lot of people are still looking for good gimbals that can get the job done and that is why we are going to take a look at the best gimbals for the GH5. So, you can get all the help you want and have a good gimbal at hand, too.
Best Gimbals for GH5
The best gimbals for GH5 has to be the DJI RS 2 and has been one for the greatest time; the performance you are getting here is great and the best thing about this gimbal is that regardless of the camera/lens combination you have, it will work just fine in every instance.
DJI RS 2 – Best Overall Gimbal
The DJI RS 2 is packed with flagship features, great controls, and overall compatibility, making it one of the best gimbals.
It should not take a genius to understand that everything DJI has done for the gimbal market is something that we cannot deny. The company can be given credit for ushering gimbals into a whole new market and if you are in search of something that is genuinely good, then anything from this company and you are good to go.
With that said, the DJI RS 2 is the gimbal that I am looking at right now, and yes, I have reviewed this beast in my previous round ups and coming back to it is a treat always as it just works and does the job really well.
So, what is there about this gimbal? Well, honestly, you are getting a piece of equipment that is chock full of some of the best features that make the overall usability a lot better and that is saying something. However, there is more as the gimbal does deliver exceptionally effective stabilization.
You are also getting an overall construction that is both lightweight and sturdy to a point that you are not really going to have to worry about either breaking the gimbal or running into some other issues as far as the overall carrying process is concerned.
The DJI RS 2 is also amazing when it comes to helping you out setting the gimbal up: I say this because I have used some gimbals in the past that were downright impossible to use and well, that is not what people want. This, however, is a breeze.
With so much to commend about this gimbal, are there any things that are less than ideal? Well, yes. I did run into the issue where I was tired of the bunch of wires that I had to deal with and the battery life was not up to my expectation.
Overall, the DJI RS 2 is an excellent addition to anyone’s gear. It does not matter the type of work you are looking to do with it, as long as you need something that stabilizes your camera, this is the one gimbal that gets everything done.
DJI Ronin-S – Best Gimbal for Handheld Use
The DJI Ronin S is a slightly old but very effective gimbal that you can use hand-held and still get some excellent performance.
The thing with gimbal market is that despite there being a pretty tough competition, the competitors are not many. This is one of the reasons why you get to see similar gimbals in our roundups, and honestly, there is nothing wrong with it as it does not really change our opinion.
With that said, if you have been reading up about the DJI Ronin-S and GH5, you would be happy to know that you are looking at something that is excellent in almost every regard. If you want something that can be used handheld and well, this is one gimbal that you can never really overlook
For the money you are spending on this drone, you are getting access to something that allows for a super-easy setup and calibration to a point that you will not really have any issues. It does not matter if you are new to the market or have been using these gimbals for some time, getting access to it is a lot better in every way there is.
The gimbal is also excellent when you are talking about smooth and stabilized video as the stabilization on this is amazing and looks great every single time.
My favourite thing here is the remote camera operation including follow focus; even though it is limited to the camera model, when it works, it looks excellent.
There is not much about this gimbal that raises an eyebrow. Yes, I do wish that DJI has worked on improving the power brick on this gimbal but aside from that, I don’t think there is anything that needs to be addressed.
Overall, the DJI Ronin-S is one of the best gimbals available in the market and the best bit is that if you want something that has good performance, this gimbal is amazing and works fine and without any issues.
MOZA Air 2 – Best Affordable Gimbal
The MOZA Air 2 is known for not only being an affordable solution for stabilized footage, but it also has some nice features making it worth your money.
The good thing about gimbals in the modern day and age is that you do not have to go for something that is high-end if you do not have the use for it. If you are looking to do some entry to mid-level work and you do not want to spend all your money on a gimbal, then don’t worry as there are many affordable options available too.
So, naturally, the MOZA Air 2 comes to mind when you are talking about affordable gimbals but what is more important to know is that just because this gimbal is an affordable solution does not mean that it is not as good as it does deliver exceptional performance for the price you are paying and then some.
With the MOZA Air 2, you are not expected to pay a lot when compared to some of the other options that are available in the market. Making this gimbal an affordable solution for all your stabilization needs.
The gimbal is also lightweight and sturdy enough to a point that you can easily carry it around with one hand and without having to worry about dropping it, getting tired, or breaking it, for that matter.
The best thing about this gimbal, however, is the fact that it does support majority of lens and camera combinations. However, I would always suggest that you go through the full list before you invest in it.
Honestly, after spending some time with this gimbal, I cannot really think of anything that might be wrong with this gimbal. Sure, it did take me some time to set it up the right way but once that was done, I was out of trouble and things started working just fine.
Overall, I am more than surprised by the MOZA Air 2, it did look like it is not going to last a long, long time but after using it for some time, I can be more than happy to recommend to anyone who is on the hunt for something that is affordable and works well.
Moving further into the list, we still have some pretty good offerings to look at and we believe we are all aware of a company called Zhiyun. They decided to come out at the peak of gimbal boom and well, they have brought some really good offerings in the market with their Crane series of gimbals and that is not changing any time soon.
The Zhiyun Crane 2S is a gimbal that is made for those who are looking to be sure that they don’t end up spending a lot of money and well, the performance on this gimbal is worth the price. But is it just a gimbal for beginners or is it more than that? Well, we are here to find out the exact thing.
For starters, you are looking at a gimbal that is great at making sure that you can easily stabilize both mirrorless and DSLR cameras, so if support is something that is on your mind, there is not much to worry about. The gimbal is also excellent when you are talking about balancing it as you will not have any issues doing so.
The one feature that I do love about this gimbal is the fact that it brings a vertical video mounting option which is not as common as you might think but does work really great.
You are also getting the option to swap the batteries when they run out and I think this feature is great and is much needed, in general. Not just that, you can also go ahead and charge your gimbal with USB Type-C power brick, which is always excellent and adds more functionality.
The 360-degree roll is another thing that I love about this gimbal and the fact that you are getting follow focus and other add-ons that you can buy for this gimbal is just one of many things that you are going to love this gimbal.
If you are wondering whether there are some downsides to this gimbal then yes, there are but nothing that can break the experience. For starters, you are going to need some tools when putting this gimbal together or taking it apart, for that matter and the USB camera control is going to vary by camera model;.
Overall, I would say that the Zhiyun Crane 2S is an impressively made gimbal all around. Sure, it did take me some time to get familiar with it since I have used so many gimbals in the past but once you are fully familiar of what this gimbal is all about, you should not really have any issues in the overall usability.
DJI RSC 2 – Best Gimbal for Mirrorless Cameras
The DJI RSC 2 is one of the best gimbals for mirrorless cameras that comes with a smart folding design, making it a worthy investment for anyone who wants something different and small.
We are all aware of the fact that there is no shortage of some excellent gimbals available in the market and this is not something that is changing any time soon. Over the past couple of years, we have managed to see some really good gimbals but the tech world is constantly changing and evolving, allowing us access to better and better technology.
With that said, the DJI RSC 2 is the gimbal that we are looking at today and yes, I have reviewed this gimbal before and have always been impressed by how good it can work and things have not changed all that, either. If you want performance, this is the way that you should get that and well, there is much to love here.
For starters, this is one of the first gimbals to introduce a new and smart design that would allow you to fold your gimbal, making it easier to store. Despite being really small as compared to the other gimbals, you are looking at something that can easily manage.
Thankfully, the smaller size does not translate into poorer performance or bad support as the gimbal can still go ahead and easily support full-frame payload, which is impressive, to say the least. You are also getting access to 14-battery life and support for USB charging, which is always amazing.
The automatic 360-degree roll is something that you are not going to regret using as the feature is a lot of fun to use, so you are in good hands.
Going further, the best thing about the DJI RSC 2 is the fact that you are getting access to follow focus along with some other really useful accessories that you can go ahead and use to your convenience and that too, without any issues.
While I do love this gimbal a lot, I have to say that it does not come without its faults as there are a few. For starters, finding the right balance can be challenging if you have not used a gimbal before. I also don’t like how you cannot replace the batteries on your own.
Overall, I can easily say that the DJI RSC 2 is an impressive gimbal. Sure, it is not the top of the line gimbal but we are not looking for something, in the first place. If you want performance, then this gimbal is definitely going to serve you with that and you cannot go wrong.
DJI Ronin-SC – Best Budget Gimbal
The DJI Ronin-SC is an excellent gimbal for anyone who is in the market for something that is on the budget front while delivering an excellent set of features.
We are finally done with all the gimbals in the list except this one. Again, we are looking at something from DJI because the gimbals that the company has to offer are excellent in every way and they do deliver excellent performance that is also well-balanced to a point that you are not really going to run into any issues.
With that said, the DJI Ronin-SC is the gimbal I am looking at now and honestly, this is one of those gimbals that have delivered excellent performance across the board and that too, without any complications that might have come in the way.
Now, if you are wondering, the DJI Ronin-SC is akin to the Ronin-S but the best part here is that it is smaller. I do understand that for many people, a smaller gimbal also might mean that the performance is not as good or the gimbal is not sturdy but that is not the case at all as the gimbal is solid through and through.
You are also looking at a gimbal that delivers one of the smoothest and stabilized footage that you can ask for in a gimbal and honestly, I am not surprised how good this gimbal actually is.
DJI has also added a 3-axis lock that allows you to lock all the axis and then go ahead and setup the gimbal, which is an excellent feature because it allows you to setup everything with ease.
Moving forward, if you are looking to control the gimbal using your smartphone, then you would be happy to know that you can actually go ahead and advanced features that will make your overall experience a lot better.
Honestly, the only downside of this gimbal is the fact that there are times when it becomes harder to put the gimbal back in the case but aside from that, I doubt that I can point anything about the gimbal that is not good enough.
Overall, if you are in the market something for something that is excellent in every regard, spending money on the DJI Ronin-SC is not something that you will regret. Want good performance? This is the gimbal that you should be going for.
